Laguna Seca, CA | The inaugural event of the Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West took place at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca this past weekend. Round 1 of the 2022 Championship saw 19 entries representing 8 teams attacking to the 2.238 mile, 11 turn circuit under ideal and sunny weather conditions for two races. The weekend featured Kelly Moss’s Kay Van Berlo winning pole position in the 992 class in addition to coming away victorious in both races. In the Cayman class, a similar story unfolded with Micheal Gaulke winning pole and earning back-to-back wins in both races to also leave the weekend with a strong lead in the Championship standings for the Flying Lizards squad. Lastly, in the 991 class, Paul Nemschoff of Flying Lizards was first to cross the stripe in Race 1, while Sam Parnagian claimed the Race 2 victory for his BR Racing team.
