Successful Weekend At Porsche Sport Car Together Fest In The Books

Indianapolis, IN | Over this Labor Day weekend, Porsche was back in Indianapolis to commemorate its long history of successful road and racing cars. For spectators of all ages, there were also trackside activities. Two of the German sports car manufacturer’s best performance models—the GT range of road vehicles and its top one-make race series—were on exhibit at the Sports Car Together Fest, the second annual headliner at the esteemed Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) by Porsche. The Porsche GT car gathering was the biggest ever, and the event also celebrated the RS model’s 50th birthday.

Weather conditions were much improved compared to yesterday’s heavy rain fall. The GT3 Cup cars were the first to hit the track for the Porsche Sprint Challenge North America by Yokohama. Race 2 of the weekend for the GT3 Cup class saw dry track conditions and everyone was able to run on the slick Advan Yokohama tires. Sebastian Carazo was able to get back to his winning ways after a tire failure yesterday caused him to DNF. Carazo won the North America 992 class by finishing P1 Overall. 2nd place in the 992 class was Todd who finished P10 Overall. Rounding out the North America GT3 Cup 992 podium was Race 1 winner Washington who placed P14 overall. On the North America 991 side of things, championship leader Jimmy Llibre suffered mechanical issues and was not able to finish Race 2. Winning the 991 podium and sweeping the weekend in the class was Dan Clarke who placed P2 Overall. 2nd place in the 991 class was claimed by Sedgewick who placed P3 Overall and in 3rd place for the class was Cirone who placed P4 Overall. In the USA West 991 class, John McInnes was able to sweep the weekend by placing P15 Overall. Haunold placed 2nd in the class and P21 Overall with Ayers taking 3rd and P33 Overall.

The Porsche Sprint Challenge North America Cayman class was swept by Conor Horstmann who was able to run away from the field and win both races this weekend. After a wild incident yesterday, the RS1 team was able to rebuild Austin Krainz’s car which paid off well and Krainz was able to take home 2nd place after an eventful 24 hours for him and the team. Rounding out the Cayman podium was Kenny in 3rd place.
