Speedway, IN | Porsche Sprint Challenge North America is poised for one of its most successful

seasons yet as the program approaches its first event of 2023.

The Porsche one-make series returns with its duo of championships – Porsche Sprint Challenge North

America by Yokohama (PSCNA) in its third season of competition and Porsche Sprint Challenge USA

West by Yokohama (PSCUW) in its second season for teams preferring a West Coast race schedule.

While the series maintains much of its structure going into 2023, it also introduces a handful of new

elements to both championships.

Most notably, PSCNA and PSCUW will upgrade from three classes to five this season – 992 GT3 Cup

Pro/AM, 992 GT3 Cup Am, 991 GT3 Cup, Cayman GT4 Clubsport Pro/Am and Cayman GT4 Clubsport

Am.

For both championships, 992 GT3 Cup entries will compete in respective Porsche models from 2021 –

2023, with drivers aged 16 to 49 racing in the Pro/Am class and drivers 50 and older in the Am class. The

same structure applies to Cayman GT4 Clubsport entries with respective Porsche models from 2019 –

2021, albeit with the Pro/Am minimum age requirement set at 15. The 991 GT3 Cup class is reserved for

all competitors driving Porsche 991 GT3 Cup race cars of the 991.2 generation (model years from 2017 –

2020).

The new-for-2023 championship structure highlights one of the most appealing aspects of this Porsche

Motorsport Pyramid series, with drivers having the ability to advance amongst models and classes as

their development continues. Two champions from 2022 – Aiden Kenny and Laura Ely – will do just that

in 2023. After winning last year’s North American Cayman GT4 Clubsport title, Kenny will join the 992

GT3 Cup Pro/Am field, while Ely moves to the 992 GT3 Cup Am field after clinching last year’s 991 GT3

Cup title.

Additionally, multiple drivers are ready to invest in season-long commitments for 2023 after an initial

introduction last season. Zachary Vanier contested only two races in 2022, including one win, in the 991

GT3 Cup class and will join the 992 GT3 Cup Pro/Am field full-time this season. Former PSCUW

competitor Kayden Kelly will do the same after a promising series introduction with just four 991 GT3 Cup starts last year. In total, more than 40 season-long entries are confirmed across both championships for the upcoming

season.

The North American championship will kick off its calendar in less than one month’s time at Sebring

International Raceway on March 24 – 26, while Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch – an exclusive

motorsports country club located one hour west of Las Vegas – hosts the first doubleheader weekend for

USA West on the 2.76-mile Charleston Peak racetrack, scheduled for April 21 – 23.

Additionally, both championships will join select events this season featuring some of North America’s

premier motorsports series. INDYCAR – which welcomed its first Porsche Sprint Challenge event in 2022

– increases its alliance with the series for three weekends in 2023, starting with PSCNA at Barber

Motorsports Park and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, followed by PSCUW at WeatherTech Raceway

Laguna Seca. While only PSCNA’s GT3 Cup classes will run at Mid-Ohio during the INDYCAR weekend,

Cayman GT4 Clubsport competitors will get their turn in the spotlight with NASCAR one week later.

After a total of seven event weekends for PSCNA and five for PSCUW, both championships will conclude

their seasons at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on October 6 – 8 during the SRO-sanctioned and fan-

favorite Indy 8 Hour.

Speedway, IN | Coming off a year of tremendous growth and exposure, Porsche Sprint Challenge North America by Yokohama will return for its third season and Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West by Yokohama will return for its second season. With the announcement of the 2023 season schedule, Porsche Sprint Challenge North America will feature 14 rounds at 7 of the most prestigious circuits in the United States. The 2023 Porsche Sprint Challenge North America season will begin in Sebring on March 24th, 2023 with the champion being crowned at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on October 8th, 2023. Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West will consist of 12 rounds at 6 circuits with a favorable Western United States line-up. The 2023 Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West season kicks off at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch – an exclusive motorsports country club located one hour west of Las Vegas – hosts the first doubleheader weekend for USA West on the 2.76-mile Charleston Peak racetrack, scheduled for April 21 – 23.

New for the 2023 season is the addition of Pro/Am and Am classes into the championship battle. The GT3 Cup 992 class will now be broken into a Pro/Am and Am class based on age with those drivers over the age of 50 falling into the Am class. The GT3 Cup 991 class will remain unchanged from 2022 and will not feature the addition of the Pro/Am and Am classes. The Cayman class will reflect the addition of the Pro/Am and Am classes. In addition, the Cayman class will feature a brand new Junior Championship with details to be announced soon.

Indianapolis, IN | Sebastian Carazo, #27 Kelly Moss Road & Race, wins the 2022 Porsche Sprint Challenge North America GT3 Cup 992 Championship. Carazo finished the season with 664 championship points and a comfortable 63-point lead over 2nd place championship finisher David Williams. Sebastian Carazo had a dominant 2022 season in a very competitive 992 GT3 Cup class. Carzao won a total of eight (8) races in the 2022 season on top of three (3) 2nd place finishes. His most notable wins included sweeps at Mid-Ohio and COTA in addition to a Miami GP race win.

Indianapolis, IN | Jimmy Llibre, #89 MDK Motorsports, wins the 2022 Porsche Sprint Challenge North America GT3 Cup 991 Championship. After a very impressive 2022 campaign for Llibre, he was able to cap it off with a Championship by finishing the season with 636 championship points. Llibre ended the season with a 65-point gap over the closest championship competitor, Michael Levitas. Llibre built an impressive resume during his 2022 Porsche Sprint Challenge North America season with five (5) wins on the season and six (6) 2nd place finishes. Jimmy Llibre’s most notable wins included a sweep of the Miami Grand Prix running in support of Formula One with strong support from the Latin American community.

Indianapolis, IN | Aidan Kenny, #22 W2W Racing, wins the 2022 Porsche Sprint Challenge North America Cayman Championship. Kenny started off the 2022 season on a roll winning the first 4 races of the year and going on to win 6 of the first 8 races of the season. Aidan Kenny finished the season with 564 championship points and a 35-point lead to fellow W2W teammate, Mark Smith. Kenny’s 2022 Porsche Sprint Challenge North America campaign was highlighted with six (6) race wins and two (2) 2nd place finishes. Aidan Kenny’s most notable wins on the season include sweeps at Sebring and the brand new Ozarks International Raceway.

Indianapolis, IN | Chris Bellomo, #68 Flying Lizard Motorsports, wins the 2022 Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West GT3 Cup 992 Championship. Bellomo put on an absolutely dominant performance during the 2022 Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West season finishing with 594 championship points and a suffocating 399-point lead over 2nd place finisher in the championship, Kyle Washington. During the 2022 season, Bellomo was able to secure nine (9) race victories and only a single (1) 2nd place finish. Chris Bellomo’s most notable wins during the season include sweeps at Virginia International Raceway, Road America, and COTA.

Indianapolis, IN | Laura Ely, #09 Black Sheep Racing, wins the 2022 Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West GT3 Cup 991 Championship. Ely and the USA West 991 class put on the most fierce championship battle with first place changing hands every weekend between Ely and Nemschoff. In the end, Ely was able to triumph and finish the season with 583 championship points and a 10-point gap over Nemschoff. Laura Ely had a remarkable 2022 season with a total of six (6) race victories and four (4) 2nd place finishes. Notable wins for Ely include the sweeps of Sonoma and COTA.
